Perry the Platypus is in today’s lunchbox! I got the idea from a t-shirt (see pic below) that was given to Sean by my sister and her family. Perry is a PBJ on whole wheat with apple slices and few grapes.

Bear PBJ Sandwich #91
I hope everyone had a great Memorial Day weekend! It was a nice one for us, spent with family and friends doing the usual outdoor grilling. This weekend was also the last book signing for me which is kind of nice because that means I get my weekends back with the family.
However I will miss it because the book signings were a lot of fun and a great way to meet some of my readers that share the same passion of making bentos! I just wanted to say “Hi!” to Mari and Eileen who came and visited me on Sunday. This weekend, I also finally got to take a picture with Pikko of Adventures in Bentomaking too!
Don’t forget to pick up Pikko’s book Yum Yum Bento Box, which is now available on Amazon and will soon be out in book stores.
I didn’t have the chance to post this last week, but this was one of Sean’s lunches- PBJ bear and heart shaped sandwiches with a few heart shaped carrots and strawberry.
My BFF Lori and Paige!
Crystal and Me! BTW, I’m not that tall…I was wearing a pair of super high wedges.
A little write up in May’s issue of Island Family Magazine.

Spring Flowers Sandwich Bento #88
After today, Paige is off for the rest of the week. We decided to make it a movie night tonight and hopefully we’ll be able to find something that both kids will agree upon. Mark and I need to go out on a date/movie night soon because I can’t remember the last time I watched a movie that wasn’t rated G or PG. I’ve been wanting to see Iron Man 2, so hopefully we can go and see that…(hint, hint- Mark).
Today’s bento is a quick PBJ sandwich bento. I cut the sandwiches to fit into the muffin cups and added on sugar eyes (love these!) and cheddar smiles and flowers.
I also wanted to mention all of the cool contests going on! Check out these fabulous bento blogs!

Crouching Tigers Bento #37

Yesterday I got a cool bento tool from a fellow bento enthusiast that just made my day! My first thought was of course- “I can make tigers out of this! Yipee!”. I made PBJ sandwiches today and with the help of my nifty cutter, I made all these wonderful tigers and a sweet heart too. I used chocolate sprinkles for the stripes and really big sugar eyes that I attached with a little bit of icing. After arranging them in the bento box, I thought that they really did look like cats of prey- crouching and getting ready to pounce to their next meal.
Isn’t it a beauty!

PBJ Musubi Bento #27
It’s those nesting onigiri boxes again! Today I packed peanut butter and jelly musubi sandwiches in the boxes, along with mandarin oranges and blueberries. I used grape fruit roll ups for the nori and eyes, and used the strawberry one for the ume nose. The fruit roll ups are pretty sticky so they stay put fairly well on the bread. The only problem I encountered was trying to keep the bread crumbs off of the top of the fruit roll ups.
Pikko of Adventures in Bentomaking will soon be announcing the winners of the Haiti Fundraiser drawing on her blog! Don’t forget to check it out and see how much money we managed to raise with all of your help! Thanks to all that participated as well as those who helped to spread the word about the fundraiser.

Christmas Tree PBJ Sandwich Bento
Sandwiches are always quick and easy to do because they require no cooking. I used a Christmas tree cookie cutter to cut the bread, then added a little peanut butter and jelly, and finished the sandwich with colorful ornaments (jumbo sprinkles). This old tree cookie cutter is my favorite because of it’s rounded edges. 17 more days until Christmas!
