Perry the Platypus

Perry the Platypus is in today’s lunchbox!  I got the idea from a t-shirt (see pic below) that was given to Sean by my sister and her family.  Perry is a PBJ on whole wheat with apple slices and few grapes. :)

The Evil Bentoconstructinator

The evil Dr. Heinz Doofenshmirtz is today’s Phineas and Ferb character.  In every episode, Dr. Dofeenshmirtz comes up with some kind of wacky invention to take over the Tri State Area.  His inventions almost always end with -inator.  For example the Destructinator, Freezinator, or the Invisinator just to name a few.  He’s also one of my favorite characters!

I watch too many Phineas and Ferb shows with the kids, don’t I!?  :)

Buford Van Stomm

Here’s Buford, the infamous bully of Phineas and Ferb!  Buford is a peanut butter and jelly on whole wheat bread.  His hair and facial features are cut from rye bread and his eyes are made of cheese.  I used a rolling pin on the rye bread to flatten it out before cutting.

Candace Flynn

My next Phineas and Ferb character is Candace, their sister.  I couldn’t fit all of her long hair in so you just have to imagine that it continues on. :)  Candace is made with whole wheat bread, cheese for her hair and eyes, olives for the black of her eyes, and nori that I cut out and brushed with honey so that it would stick to the bread. The sandwich is filled with the left over cheese cutouts, turkey, and cucumbers.

Hope you all had a great weekend!

PBJ Ferb Sammies

Since I made Phineas yesterday, I just had to make a Ferb bento today!  Ferb’s head is long and thin so I could make two Ferbs out of one PBJ sandwich.  To make Ferb I just printed out a picture of him, cut his head out, and used it as a stencil.  Then I used a sharp knife to cut him out and assembled my PBJ sandwich complete with cheese eyes and a few sprigs of parsley for his hair.  I thought about using cucumbers for his hair but figured it would just make the bread soggy.

Anyway, Sean loved it and he thought the Ferb sammies were pretty funny looking. :)

“What are we gonna do today?”

Paige loves the Disney cartoon Phineas and Ferb, so when we saw Shannon’s bento from What’s For Lunch at Our House? , Paige asked if I could make her one too.  With his clean simple lines, Phineas was easy to make.  The sandwich consisted of whole wheat bread, swiss, and turkey.  I think I’ll try and make some of the other characters too. :)

Crikey it’s a Croc! Sammy

Hi everyone!  I know it’s been a while since my last post, but I am back! :) Our summer has been quite busy with the kids’ summer activities.  Meals have been pretty simple during the break, especially since the kids are having their lunches at home.  Hope you all are having a safe and fun summer!

Today the kids had crocodile sandwiches- turkey, swiss, and baby spinach on whole wheat along with grapes and a few veggies.
