We just returned from the Big Island yesterday after spending some time with family and friends. This was the first time that we got to meet Grandma’s new dog, Beck, and we all totally fell in love with him because he is such a sweet dog! Paige wanted to take him home with us so that Macky would have a friend.
We also took a picture from the airplane of Mauna Kea since we flew next to it. Being from Hawaii, snow is a rare thing so Paige and I were very excited to see some snow on the mountain. Believe it or not, as old as I am, I have never played, touched, or been in snow before. Building a snow man and skiing are on my list of things to do before I turn 60.

Today’s bento consists of a panda onigiri, oven fried chicken, some fruits, and veggies- including a cherry tomato that Paige grew.

Yummy oven fried chicken! they look so tastey!! Glad you enjoyed the trip to see family. You have never experienced snow?! *shocking* I have but never when the snow is falling from the sky. I am hoping it would happen one day. Lil P wants to see snow.
Thanks Mrs. P!
adorable. i’m going to try that panda.
Thanks maggie!
I never see snow until now, guess because I’m living in tropical country and always avoid travel overseas on winter. But it will be my dream someday to see snow with the kids. Yummy chicken wings and cute panda too! Glad to see the pictures and know that you and family had a lot of fun (^.^)
Thanks Lia!
I so want to make this panda onigiri for Keira’s summer lunch bentos! I hope you don’t mind if I copy.. : ) And Paige grew that cherry tomato? She’s a natural green thumb! That is a sweet photo of Paige and Beck, he looks so happy. One of these days, if you ever make it to Montreal, come during winter.. I’ll show you what *real* snow and ice is really like! lol.. But don’t worry, I’ll also make sure you get warmed up with a nice steaming cup of hot chocolate..
Yay, I can’t wait to see your bento!
You are always so creative. We would love to come to visit you!!!
There you are Susan! Nice to see your signature onigiri; this one’s a cutie Panda — love him! You’ll have to take the telescope tour and play in the snow up there one of these days. Very cool!
Oh sounds like fun! We will have to do that, Paige would love it!
So nice to see new bento post from you! They are always so cute and tempting
Thanks so much!
susan, so nice to see you back! seems like you guys had a wonderful trip
i can’t believe you have never seen snow!! when are you organizing a bento-meet-up in NYC so you and the other west coast/international peeps can get a taste of our crazy weather extremes?!
beck is adorable, he and macky would be such cute playmates. paige looks so happy playing with him!
and the panda is great, so clever to use the olives like that. i recently bought a jar of large and jar of small, knowing they could come in handy for something like this — now i have a model to imitate!
Thanks Megan! I would love to meet up in NY. I have a few relatives that live there.
Oven fried chicken? I never would have known. It all looks delicious!
Thank you Ohayo Bento!
What a lovely panda! I wish my girls liked olives.
