Paige went on a field trip today so I packed her bento in a disposable container. After packing it (and taking the pictures), I realized that the box that I had chosen was too big! :0( The lid of the box pictured has a domed lid so there was quite a bit of space at the top. If I left the food in this container, it would have resembled a stir fry rather than a bento so I changed it to a smaller more secure container. Paige’s bento contains a musubi, mochiko chicken, sauteed Brussels sprouts, and carrot flowers. I cut the carrot flowers with my new and awesome Ateco cutters from the Executive Chef at Ward. They come in a variety of shapes and sizes and the only downfall is that they were kind of pricey. Still, I am a sucker for all new and cute things that I can use in my bentos so of course I bought them.

I agree with Debra, the carrots are almost surreal they are so perfect! Very cute bento!
I love the shape of the carrots! How adorable! Love it – I think if I saw it I would buy it as well – suckers
Onigiri with mochiko chicken – fast turning into one of my favourite meals as well. Yumm-y
adorable “to-go” bento! love how the food cup and the strawberry paper compliment each other. and the new flower shapes are really pretty… ateco cutters are great (very sharp, especially the tiny ones that were originally intended for aspic), i’ve had my eye on a few sets for a while now!
Ooooh, I love that cutter set! Such unique flower shapes!
The lush textures and enticing shapes (and super cute bunny pick) make this so wonderful, Susan! Must try sprouts and carrots together like this, yum! And yes, there’s no resisting cute new bento tools.
Happy weekend!
wow, I missed out on so many previous bento posts and this one too! The chicken looks sooo tasty. Do you just pan fry it? And such cute and great little cutters! I love that you get both the tiny and bigger sizes. Have a great weekend!
Those cutters are SO cool! My daughter would love those. I love your blog and your bentos! I passed the “Versatile Blogger Award” on to you, you can read about it here: http://round-the-letterbox.blogspot.com/2010/10/versatile-blogger-award.html .
Thanks so much Kari!!! I really appreciate it!
I must agree that Ateco has nice cutter sets but one down fall is, they get rusty easily
They are expensive but the material used is not stainless steel.
Wow, Paige got a pretty flowery field trip bento… The cutters are very cool, can’t wait to see your next creations with them
Hi Susan! I picked up these mini fall cookie cutters that includes a mini pumpkin cutter. I want to be able to use it to make some halloween goodies to share with my little one’s classmates. I thought about doing cupcakes but cheese cutout wouldn’t go very well with it. I’m also thinking about making pizza rolls and put the pumpkin cheese cutout on top. Do you have other suggestions for me?
You always make perfect field trip bento! Love this one very much!
Such fun new cutters! Very cute. Adding those to my wish-list. :p
Lovely bento!
Thanks so much everyone for your very nice comments!!! I really appreciate it.
I have been admiring your carrot flowers and was wondering what cutter you have been using. Thanks for the sharing. It is indeed very expensive cutters. However, they produce very nice cuts for bento-making.
Thanks too for sharing the pre-planning & timeframe required for preparing bento set. I try to prepare bento for my sis and I for dinner (just to improve my skills) and it take me ages! I doubt I am able to wake up early morning to cooking bento sets for our lunch. I am training myself to prepare bento sets for my nieces and nephews picnic outing that I am planning for year-end school break. And I need to prepare 10 bento sets. So I really have to work on improving my timing or else we will never get our picnic started, looking at my current timing…wah ka ka….:o) !
