We have a huge bush of yellow flowers growing wild in our yard which the the inspiration for today’s bento. The flowers attract a lot of butterflies but they also attract a bunch of black bees which the kids hate. Anyway, I wanted to take a picture of the kids with flowers to put in my post and it took sooooo long just to get a few shots. I had to shoo away the two stubborn bees hanging out by the flowers before I could even get the kids to sit by the bush. Then getting Sean to smile was and always has been an insurmountable challenge. If you have my latest cookbook you can see for yourself. Our family picture at the end of the book showcases Sean’s classic “smile”.

Out of 20 pictures today, this was Sean’s best “smile”.
I also wanted to send out a big thank Diane Ako of the Star Advertiser for her wonderful write up of my book yesterday!
Happy belated Birthday to Diane’s super cute little girl, Olivia!

you have beautiful kids
Thanks Michelle!
Haha! Paige’s beautiful smile balances out his goofy one. You’ve seen my boy’s “smile” — between the gritted teeth and the bug-eyes he really has his own um, signature look.
Pretty bento and those butterflies look great!
Thanks Sheri!
Boys are funny that way! I suppose we will look back at all of our pictures and have a good laugh one day.
Your kids are so cute, and photogenic ; ) hehe. I can see what you mean by the abundance of yellow flowers!
Thanks Rach!
They are sooo adorable! Haha!! I love Sean’s smile. Classic. Bento is so cute. What’s in the popsicle container?
Thanks Chantale!
The small container is a mayonnaise case.
I love it when kids confuse “grins” with “grimace”. Too cute!
Cool butterfly cutter! Where should I look for detailed cutters? I cannot find them here.
Thanks Debra!
I got this cutter along with a few others from my Mother in-law. They are the Chinese type vegetable cutters. I’ll look around China town to see if I can find any.

Beautiful bento and lovely butterflies! Paige has sweet smile, and Sean look so cheeky
Thanks KidsDreamWork!
That is so funny…and so typical. And look at Paige’s pretty smile in every one! It reminds me of all the photos I took of my daughter at a young age for a Christmas photo.
I love that butterfly cutter! Your yellow flower is adorable!
Thanks Lyndsey!
My son would do the same
He never stops to make funny faces during picture taken.
you have lovely kids
Thanks Yenny!
Is Sean about 5 years old? IF he is, then this is just so normal! Darrius is like that too… forever with all the funny smiles when I ask him to pose for a shot and usually he’ll spoil all the photos with his crazy pose!
Bye the way, Paige is looking so much like you!
LOL, Sean is 3 1/2 years old! Darius sounds funny!
Great pictures! I always have a hard time to take Andrew’s picture too … I think it’s just normal for the boy heh? hehehe … Love your classic butterfly cutter, very nice details! And the smiling face flower make this bento so cheerful. Paige’s smiles just like you, both of you look alike and Sean take your husband side … (^.^)
Thanks Lia!
Beautiful photos of your kids! And an especially sweet bento–orange butterflies pop with vivid color, looks great!
Thanks Jenn!
