Paige requested soft tacos for lunch today since we had them for dinner last night. I saved some of the ground beef and taco seasoning mix to cook this morning so that it would be hot, and stored it in a thermal container to keep warm. I cut out the flour tortillas with a Hello Kitty shaped cutter and stored them in the top compartment of Paige’s new Hello Kitty lunch box that she received from Grandma Geri for her birthday. The top tier is very shallow and is supposed to store the utensils and napkin but it made a perfect container for the flour tortillas. The rest of her lunch containers a few slices of super sweet Mandarin oranges, salsa, cheese, and lettuce.

Oh “thanks” for telling me that there’s such a thing as a HK tortilla cutter! I should of known. LOL
What a healthy looking lunch!
Thanks Debra! LOL, it’s actually a sandwich cutter!
I should have put a pic up of it.
Love the HK tortillas – what a great idea!
Thanks Tammy!
Love the diy taco idea, and perfect box for it! Cute!
Thanks Sheri!
Very cute! I have a large HK cookie cutter, maybe that would work, I’ll give it a try. I tried one of your ideas from your book today, the wrapped cyclinder musubi with punched nori. Jade and Koa loved it. Koa has been asking for me to do something from your book. After he saw the bento, he asked if it was from your book. Such pressure! lol.
Thanks Shawna!
It actually is a super big cookie cutter that I got at the Sanrio store! I always use it as a sandwich cutter since I hardly bake. I got to take a look at your bentos! They were so cute!!!
Oh that is amazing! Kidlet will love the idea of shaped tortilla!
Thanks Jenn!
Ooh Paige is such a lucky girl
i love this idea
healthy and easy
Thanks Michelle!
I love the hello kitty tortilla shells! Good idea with the sandwich cutter, and I like the idea of building the taco when eating it. I think my daughter would go for that.
Thanks Lyndsey!
Paige thinks it’s fun to make her own, which prompted me to make it like this.
What an awesome idea! I’ve done build-your-owns before, but never thought to do tacos!
Thanks Megan!
Very nice tacos.
Love the butterfly.
Thanks Singairishigirl!
The box is so pretty! So are the hello kitty tortillas.
Thanks Xelia!
That looks so yum! How do you get the lettuce and cheese to stay in place? (saran wrap or something, or do they just not move much?).
Thanks Nichola!
The top section (with the tortillas in it) sits right on top of food so it doesn’t shift around. It’s really the perfect box for this kind of food.
Wow I love the idea of soft taco for lunch, wonderful!
Thanks fluteloop!
this is such a great idea! excellent use of the bento, way to think outside (or really “inside”) the box!
Thanks nicole!

I loved this idea so much (especially the tortilla shape), does the link above happen to be the same cutter? Hate to order one just to find out it’s too small a cutter.
Yes, that is the one!
