This past Friday, the kids and I received an early Valentine’s gift from Mark! We have been wanting a dog for what seems like an eternity and we finally were able to get a puppy!
Macky is a Lab mix and he is very, very sweet in nature. He also can be very rambunctious and will chase and tackle Sean whenever the opportunity presents itself. Needless to say, Sean is not pleased with Macky when he does that. Also Macky is the very reason that I have not been posting or on the computer very much. My days are now filled with housebreaking and trying to train our puppy to not eat Sean. I may even need to rent the complete collection of the Dog Whisperer.

With all of that being said, until I get Macky house- and Sean-broken, I have to pack very simple lunches, like today’s one. I used a hamburger bun for the ham and cheese sandwich and packed pretzels and a mini pear in the box. To decorate the bento I also added in a reusable cupcake butterfly pick.

Last week I picked up these fun Hamutaro and Pokeman ochazuke (hot tea rice) packets. All you have to do is add hot rice, hot water, and one of the packets to have a hot mini meal. Paige is not a big fan, but Sean loves it. I grew up eating ochazuke with ume as a kid, so this is like comfort food to me!

Your simple bento is pretty! I do like the nice touch with the butterfly and the hamburger looks delicious to have for lunch. Cute Pokemon and Hamutaro Ochazuke … tasty I believe (^.^)
Thanks Lia!
It is really tasty, I look forward to it on cold mornings!
Perfect bento for an improptu day out. Macky is so cute.
Thank Marisa!
Congrats on your new family member–he’s adorable!! I didn’t think your blog could get any cuter…till I saw Macky! More puppy pics, please, along side your happy and beautiful bentos, Susan
Great photos as always–what a fun post!

Thanks gamene!
Macky sure is fun to have around.
“What bento?” *can’t take my eyes off Macky’s eyes*
LOL, Just kidding.
Beautiful presentation with the butterfly.
I love chazuke. It’s the perfect snack here when it’s the middle of winter.
Thanks hapabento!
Macky has those puppy-dog eyes down, that’s for sure.
haha! Macky has got the “Who me?” look down pat! Watch out! My dog does the same

Can you believe you’ve got a family member more kolohe than Sean?? Uh oh… (j/k
Ochazuke makes me think of my dad; he loved it. What are the pingu? Little pieces of reconstituted kamaboko? How cute!
LOL, I know I’m in for a lot of trouble because Macky’s just starting to lose his baby teeth. As far as the kolohe part, Sean is pretty tough to beat.
Whenever Macky is sleeping, Sean starts messing with him, payback I guess!
The ingredients list fish cake, so I think the penguins are made out of kamaboko.
The new puppy is absolutely adorable. You are one brave woman – taking on puppy training. Good luck with that. Love the butterfly decoration – even your simple bentos are lovely.
Thanks Karina!
LOL, I need the luck, thanks for that too!
