Using the nesting onigiri boxes I posted about yesterday, I made Sean an egg salad sandwich and fruit bento. The lion cub is made from cheddar cheese and I used fish sausage for the nose. To get the triangular shape, I used the smaller nesting boxes as cutters for both bread and the cheese.
Right now Sean is going through this phase where he runs a mile a minute even though his body can’t coordinate and keep up with him. Last night for instance, Sean ran into his room to get something and (wham!) he ran right into the desk, ricocheted off of it into the corner of the doorway, and then fell to the ground at which point he hit his head on the floor. Then today, he went into the bathroom to wash his hands, flung the door open which hit the wall, and caused it to slam right back into him. Oh and it gets better. At lunch today, when he bent over and sipped his drink from the straw, he missed his mouth and rammed the straw into his upper lip causing it to bleed. Poor guy, I’ll be glad when he stops hurting himself. Or does it ever stop with boys?
Obviously Sean’s not too pleased that I am documenting this.
I got this from Jenn of Bento For Kidlet ! Jenn is amazing artist and I’m very thankful for this award! I am supposed to list 10 things that make me happy, so here goes…

Thank you to Tata Bonita of Bonito’s Cooking Wonderland, Lia of Bentolicious, and Gamene of Bento Zen for this award. It goes without saying how much I love all of your blogs too! You all are such talented ladies!

Aww, poor little guy! I don’t know about other boys, but mine never is still, and he moves randomly and erratically. He does a lot of playacting, so he flings his arms and legs around all the time. I have to watch out for myself!
Love the way you cut the sandwiches to fit exactly! Definitely gonna try that with mine
Thanks for the great ideas in your cute bento!
Thanks Sheri!
Oh my goodness, random and erratic totally describe Sean! This is all new to me, because Paige was such a little lady when she was his age. I think you need to give me some pointers!
Hehehe… look at that cute “giri-giri” on that lion cub! What a fantastic idea to use the musubi case as a sammich holder. I’m gonna try it.
Poor little guy, he doesn’t look pleased does he? He’s still a cutie patootie!
Thanks hapabento!
oh dear, hope will learn to slow down a little and be more careful. cute lion.
Thanks javapot!
Aw, the lion cub is so cute! Great idea to use the boxes as cutter!
Oh, poor guy, I hope it will be better soon.
Thanks Lil’chan!
adorable adorable adorable, i’m squeeing over the lion sammie, it’s SOOOOO cute! great idea to use the smaller boxes as cutters. and the sidecar looks so perfect with the fruit and the music pick and the little punch of green. this is a great one!
i have a confession to make… i never grew out of the phase sean is in right now. i’m obv. not hurting myself on purpose, but i always manage to do things like jam straws into my face or bang into objects in my house that haven’t moved an inch/have been there forever. hopefully sean WILL grow out of it though! that straw mark would be funny if i didn’t feel so bad!
LOL, oh gamene you must have a lot on your mind with work! I have a confession too, a while back I wasn’t paying attention a stuck a straw up my nose in a restaurant…so embarrassing. I posted about this once.
Poor Sean! I don’t think it ever stops with boys, Kidlet is constantly tripping and running in to things.
The lion sandwich is sooo cute! I love it!
Thanks Jenn!
I feel much better, that Sean is not the only one. I guess they have soooo much energy!
I love these boxes and how you put some cute decorations in these boxes. I wish these nesting onigiri boxes will appear in your 2nd book. Sean is cute with his little angry face hehehe …
Thanks Lia!
He can be quite dramatic!

I love these boxes they are so cute. I’ve seen some I wanted to buy but I don’t have one because I don’t make a lot of onigiri but I love the sandwich idea as an alturnative. Do you have a special cutter for the bread?
I hope Sean feels better soon. My daughter was just as awkward at that age.
Thanks Marisa!
I use the bottom of the medium sized box to cut the bread for the larger box, and then use the bottom of the small box to cut the bread for the medium sized box.
Thanks for your well wishes for Sean!
