Thanksgiving Potluck

To celebrate Thanksgiving, Paige’s class had a potluck and the whole family was invited!  The children gave short speeches about what they were thankful for and sang the song I Can See Clearly Now. The kids were fantastic and the potluck was tons of fun. Our contribution to the potluck included musubis that had fried chicken in the middle. To make life easy, I used precut nori that I purchased from Marukai to decorate the top of the musubis.   Happy Thanksgiving everyone!!!

The Forgotten Frankenstein

Oops! The Frankenstein turkey sandwich was intended for my Halloween post.  I used a “Monster” cookie cutter that I found at the Executive Chef.  On the packaging there are pictures of the different kinds of Frankensteins (and the Mrs. too) that you can make.  I used bologna and cheese to make up his face and nori for the angry eyes.  I used Ritz crackers, Garlic and Herb Laughing Cow Cheese, a strawberry, cucumbers, and carrots to fill up the bento box.

Star Light and Star Bright

Star Light and Star Bright are the main attractions of Paige’s lunch today.   In the bento, there are two small star musubis, a small traditional musubi with nori, teriyaki steak, imitation crab rolled up in an omelet (cut and skewered with a decorative pick), and for veggies- a few cherry tomatos and cucumbers.

Hello Kitty Sandwich

Sanrio carries a large Hello Kitty cookie cutter which I used to make Paige’s sandwich today.  It comes in two parts, one to cut the shape of Hello Kitty and a second insert to cut out the eyes and nose.  The insert also leaves a nice imprint of a bow as well as the whiskers (which you can barely see in the photo).  The sandwich consists of white bread, smoked turkey, and cheddar as well as a cheddar bow.
